Switching electricity providers

If you move to a new address, your electricity provider may be able to transfer your service to your new address. You can contact your provider for details on this service – and many offer the ability to transfer your service online. If you choose to switch providers during your move, you can generally do so without being charged a cancellation fee.

If you sign up for a variable rate plan, you can switch plans or providers at any time without an early termination fee. If you have a fixed rate plan, and you switch providers during your contract term, you may be charged an early termination fee. Your termination fee will be listed in the EFL for your plan. At the end of your contract term, your provider will notify you that your contract is complete an you can switch plans with the same provider, or choose a provider without an early termination fee.
